TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The movie 12 Years A Slave has become the winner of 2014 Golden Globe for the Best Picture Drama category. The British-American epic historical drama film raised a life biography of Solomon Northup who struggled to survive and defend his dignity as a black man.
In 1841, Northup (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor) had to lose his freedom in a sudden. The violinist was kidnapped and sold to become a slave in Lousiana farmland. His happy life was soon faded away as he was thrown from one lord to another. Inhumanly treatments became his daily encounters especially when he fell into the cruel hands of Edwin Epps (played by Michael Fassbender).
A glimpse of hope started to reach Northup when he met Samuel Bass (played by Bradd Pitt). Solomon's meeting with the Canadian will forever alter his 12-year slavery life.
