The duo didn't plan their wedding in a traditional way, as they opted for a surprise wedding. In Bailon's YouTube video, she mentioned they had planned the wedding before getting engaged.

Claudette and Gerd are discreet about their wedding date, even after being married for a decade. They revealed that at the beginning, only four people knew about their marriage plan, which included the bride's mother and sister.

The pair had sent the invitation, stating that it was a surprise planned for Claudette as Gerd was going to propose. In the card, they mentioned the event's time, location, and dress code.

Days before the actual ceremony, the pair visited different romantic locations, one of which was Gramercy Park. As a kid, Claudette dreamed of walking around the park.

Her dream came true when Gerd surprised her with the park's key. For Bailon, it was a magical moment.

At that time, she thought he was going to propose. Instead, Alexander took out the Greyhound bus toy, acknowledging that she took several bus rides to meet him while he was in law school.

Later, they decided to spend the night at Rose Bar, but Claudette was unaware that another surprise was waiting for her in the bar. When she walked in, her family and best friends were there. And when she turned around, she had tears in her eyes as the love of her life was on one knee.

Gerd proposed to her with the ring she had designed several years ago. He also gave a lovely speech in Spanish for the proposal.
