Personal Statement

Since as long as I can remember, basketball and all sports have been a pivotal part of my growth. I began playing competitive basketball when I was six years old. My post game rituals were simple. I would call my grandfather and tell him my inflated statistics line and an imaginary score of the contest. This ritual only added fuel to the burning fire that was my passion for basketball.  Within my love of the game lies the desire for competition but above all, the desire to be a part of a team and to compete, work and achieve with teammates and coaches. I have found over my years of playing basketball and other sports that the relationships formed with teammates and coaches have been the relationships that have not only lasted the longest but also have proved the most meaningful. I look forward to the possibility of continuing my journey through the vast world of basketball in college. This new chapter in my life and basketball career excites me and I can't wait to see the new people it brings into my life.

In addition to my love for basketball I am also passionate about the art of dance as I am going into my fourth year of Athletic Dance for Men at my high school. During the weekend you can find me making donuts and coffee at Johnny Donuts early on a Sunday morning. Ence every month I have the chance to play basketball with the S.E.A.L.’s, a group of developmentally disabled adults who have taught me about compassion and meaningful community service. Another significant part of my upbringing is my loyalty to my birthplace. Cleveland, Ohio will always occupy a special place in my heart. Another unique part of my life is my childhood education in which I am increasingly grateful for. I attended a Montessori School through the eighth grade where I learned about meaningful relationships and how to be a part of a community. My childhood education made me who I am today both as a student and as a person.
