Chasing a 187-run target, Bangladesh were expected to win their sixth ODI against India with ease but it wasn’t to be as their batters erred on a regular basis. Losing five wickets for eight runs right before the third powerplay had further pushed them in a major spot of bother.
Although captain Liton Das (41) top-scored for the hosts, it was a match-winning 51-run partnership for the 10th wicket between all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz (38*) and pacer Mustafizur Rahman (10*) which powered them to a victory in a cliffhanger of a finish.

Assisted well by fielding lapses by the Indian cricketers, Miraz and Rahman held their nerve during the course of the second-best 10th wicket ODI partnership for Bangladesh. Despite their limitations, the duo not succumbing to the pressure against a top opposition was great to see from a cricketing perspective.

Coming in to bat at No. 8 in the 36th over, Miraz justified his batting potential yet again on the back of hitting four fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 97.43.
In the nine overs that he bowled in the first innings, Miraz registered bowling figures of 43/1 picking the all-important wicket of veteran India batter Shikhar Dhawan. As a result, becoming a deserving candidate of his fifth (third in 2022) Player of the Match award in this format.
“I am really excited. Mustafizur [Rahman] and I just thought that we need to believe. I just told him to stay calm and play 20 balls. I am really enjoying bowling. The wicket in the morning was a bit tricky, and I enjoyed bowling. This performance is really memorable for me,” Miraz told the host broadcaster during the post-match presentation ceremony.
