Jim Nill's wife, Bekki Nill, age 61, has had a 22-year fight against cancer. The couple had seen several ups and downs with Jim's busy career and Bekki's health concerns.

On January 7, 1982, Bekki was a college student eating in a café in her hometown of St. Louis when she first laid eyes on the mustached Canadian who would become her husband.

Bekki says it was his kindness that lured her toward him. She was also an athlete; she played Soccer in high school and college.

Her family had never been much further than St. Louis, who came to Vancouver during the Stanley Cup finals when she met Jim's parents for the first time.

They got engaged while Jim was playing for Vancouver, Bekki was still in St. Louis, and they planned a long-distance wedding.

Jim and his wife Bekki married two weeks after she graduated from college in 1984. By that time, Jim was a Boston Bruin.

Bekki was diagnosed with liver cancer in May 2012, twelve years after overcoming breast cancer. She was told she had only two-to-four months to live then.

Jim's wife had beaten breast cancer in the 2000s, and it metastasized into her bones, ribs, and liver. In 2011, it recurred.

He joined a job in Dallas to be with his wife. Because he was entirely in love with Bekki, he had decided that the offer would be withdrawn if she expressed even the slightest concern about her health.

Bekki built confidence and great faith in the Lord during her health crisis. As a miracle, On February 22, 2013, the FDA authorized Kadcyla's treatment that saved her life.

In 2015, Bekki invited over 40 cancer survivors in a suite while Stars staff and players' spouses dressed in pink and auctioned off autographed jerseys to support local cancer charities.
