An Ohio man turned himself into police after admitting to killing a woman by shooting her. On Monday, March 27, 58-year-old Brian E. Mason arrived at the Miamisburg Police Department’s main office.

Mason approached an officer in the parking lot and said, “I’m here to turn myself in,” as seen in the body cam video first acquired by WHIOTV7.

He claimed that while teaching his buddy how to shoot a gun the previous night at a friend’s house, there had been “an accident.” He continued, “The gun went off and shot her in the torso.”

Mason then admitted to having a weapon in his vehicle to Miamisburg police.

He added, “I wouldn’t be here voluntarily, but I’ve been so scared since it occurred,” according to the sources.

The sheriff’s office in Miami County, where the killing had occurred, was informed by police in Miamisburg, a suburb south of Dayton.

Sheriff’s officers discovered a body after traveling about 25 miles north of Dayton to a residence in Union Township.

The sheriff’s office posted on Facebook on March 28, “Upon deputies’ arrival, they got no response. Through a window, someone could see blood inside the house. Forced entry was then made at which time an adult female was found deceased in the residence suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.”

Michelle L. Elliott, 57, a house resident in the 11000 block of North Montgomery County Line Road, was subsequently identified as the woman by detectives.

Following the detectives’ discussion with Mason, the sheriff’s office stated: “Mason was brought into custody and taken to the Miami County Jail, where he was incarcerated on a charge of murder.”

A $1 million bail was established. According to some sources, Mason appeared in court on Tuesday and entered a not-guilty plea to the charge of homicide.

The lady was Michelle Elliott, a 57-year-old. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office will receive her remains for an autopsy.

April 4, 2023, is the date of his subsequent judicial appearance.
