Chris Smith NFL girlfriend death killed him from the inside. The NFL player’s girlfriend and the mother of his daughter, Petara Cordero, was killed in a crash in 2019. 

Just four years after his better half’s death, Chris Smith has also departed from this world at age 31. 

Smith’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, announced his death. “Rest in Peace, Chris.  Condolences to all his family, friends, and loved ones.  We will miss you,” he wrote on Twitter. 

The former NFL star’s cause of death was not released immediately. 

In the words of his former teammate, Myles Garrett, Chris was one of the kindest players to exist. He would not think twice before giving someone the shirt off his back. 

His sudden death serves as a stark reminder of how all good things must come to an end. The entire NFL community will deeply miss Smith. 

During his eight-year career, Chris played for seven different teams. He last played for the Texans in 2021. 

Chris Smith’s death news came out just hours after he played for the Seattle Sea Dragons in XFL on Sunday. 

The Seattle Sea Dragons even scored a win against their opponent, St. Louis Battlehawks. 

What happened to Chris Smith NFL girlfriend?

Chris Smith NFL girlfriend and the mother of his beloved daughter, Petara Cordero, passed away in 2019 after the couple’s car had a deadly accident. 

Smith’s Lamborghini had a tire malfunction. Cordero stepped out of the car and stood on the side of the road when another car smashed into the side of their car where she was standing. 

The car that killed Chris Smith NFL girlfriend was driven by a 47-year-old woman who admitted to drinking prior to the accident. 

Even though the female driver had admitted to drinking before the accident, she was not charged with Cordero’s death. 

According to the authorities, the woman was not illegally intoxicated or driving over the speed limit when the accident occurred. 

The accident occurred on a highway in Cleveland, and Cordero was announced dead on the spot. 

Cordero, 26, had given birth to a daughter just four weeks before her tragic demise. 

The loss of the love of his life had wholly shattered Smith. His teammates at the Cleveland Browns offered him all the support he needed.

Less than a week after his girlfriend’s death, Smith returned to the field to play. He dedicated that game to Cordero, as playing football is what she would have wanted him to do. 

Smith’s kindness had touched all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Some people went as far as saying that the deceased was a better person than he was a player. 

The cause of Chris Smith’s death is unknown at the time of writing this article. His family is expected to make an announcement regarding his funeral soon.
