New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter responded to Juan Soto on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday following Soto's blockbuster trade from the San Diego Padres to the Yanks.

In a video posted on X, Soto was at the MLB Flagship Store in New York City and said he was buying a Jeter jersey before asking if Jeter would autograph it. The Captain responded by telling Soto he will see him at Yankee Stadium:

After tons of rumors and speculation, the Soto trade finally came to fruition Wednesday night with the Padres agreeing to send Soto and outfielder Trent Grisham to the Yankees for pitchers Michael King, Drew Thorpe, Jhony Brito and Randy Vásquez, and catcher Kyle Higashioka.

Coming off a highly disappointing 82-80 season in 2023, the Yankees made the biggest splash of the offseason thus far by landing the 25-year-old Soto.

There is some risk involved with the deal for New York since Soto is entering the final year of his contract and could opt to test free agency next offseason rather than re-signing, but the Yankees have the money to sign him and perhaps the aura needed to compel him to stick around.

Jeter knows a thing or two about enjoying a lengthy stay in the Big Apple, as the Hall of Fame shortstop spent his entire 20-year MLB career in pinstripes.

Nicknamed "Mr. November," Jeter is one of the most beloved figures in Yankees history with 14 All-Star selections, five Gold Glove Awards, five Silver Slugger Awards, five World Series titles and one World Series MVP Award to his credit.

Soto has a long way to go before reaching that level, but leading the Yankees to even one World Series championship would make him a hero, as fans are starved for their first title since 2009.

Despite his young age, Soto has proved that he knows how to get the job done in the playoffs, as he was a huge factor in the Washington Nationals winning the 2019 World Series.

When the Nats were unable to sign Soto to a contract extension, they dealt him to San Diego during the 2022 season. While Soto struggled at the plate, the Padres went all the way to the National League Championship Series.

San Diego fell well short of expectations last season and missed the playoffs, however, Soto was back to his usual dominant self.

The 2020 NL batting champion slashed .275/.410/.519, hit a career-high 35 home runs and finished with 109 RBI, 97 runs, 12 stolen bases and an NL-leading 132 walks.

Soto earned his third career All-Star selection and fourth Silver Slugger Award, and he finished sixth in the NL MVP voting, marking his third career finish of sixth or better in the voting.

In New York, Soto will provided superstar slugger Aaron Judge with the lineup protection he so desperately needed, and they could form the most formidable one-two offensive punch in the American League or perhaps all of baseball.
