Personal Statement

Throughout my upbringing, I have always been in the water. From swimming to surfing and everything in between, I have felt a deep connection to the water. I have always been very competitive with everything I do, and in swimming there is no exception. I am a very driven and motivated student-athlete and am willing to put in the work to help advance my athletic ability.

I have been a part of multiple swim teams throughout the years, prior to joining the high school’s team. I began swimming at the Allenhurst Beach Club at a young age. It was then that I found my love for the sport and continued by joining the club team, The Monmouth Barracudas. Through swimming, I have learned the importance of dedication and commitment. These lessons have carried me through my high school experience and will continue to guide me in the future.

My freshman year, I received the Spartan Award. This award is given to a swimmer who has distinguished themselves as an outstanding student-athlete—representing Ocean Township High School with dignity. In my sophomore year, I received a leadership award titled the Golden Goggles.

I am very active in our high school student body. I am a member of the student council, which includes participating in fundraisers, such as my high school’s blood drive. I also took part in the Homecoming Celebration both my freshman and sophomore years as part of the homecoming court.  In addition, I am an active member in my community. Through my local church, I have participated in mission trips and volunteered at the Asbury Park Soup Kitchen. Within the past few years, I have gained plenty of work experience by bussing tables, working as a tech crew member in a lighting and sound booth for dance recitals, and lifeguarding at the pool and beach levels.

Since a very young age, I have always had a competitive spirit. From participating in junior lifeguard tournaments and surfing competitions to eventually being a part of two club sports teams, I have always had a motivation to achieve. Now, during my high school career, I am a three-sport varsity athlete participating in soccer, swim, and lacrosse. While participating in varsity sports at the high school level, I have also been able to maintain a high GPA and I am confident that my role as a good student will continue throughout my college experience.  I am so excited about the potential of swimming at the college level and being a member of a team. I love the feeling of working together with a group of athletes to achieve a common goal and I value the friendships that form through this process. I am hopeful to have the opportunity to start a new path in my journey as a college athlete and I am prepared and ready to give it my all!
