Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Ella Abbey. I'm a junior at Topeka High School. I'm a middle hitter and designated server for THS. I am an outside hitter for my club team.  I've been playing volleyball since 3rd grade. I've always loved playing volleyball since the moment I stepped on the court for the first time. I knew I wanted to play volleyball in college ever since I started playing for the school in 7th grade. I eat, sleep, breathe, volleyball. It is my passion in life to play. 

When I'm on the court I feel like I'm at home and all my problems go away and I just start doing what I love. I am very determined and a very hard worker. I always put 110% effort whenever I play. I do sometimes get down on myself but I try to shake it off as soon as I can.  My passion for the game makes me a team leader, as I expect my teammates to play and practice as seriously as I do. 

I am looking for a college that not only lets me play volleyball for them but will lead me toward my career goal of becoming a criminal psychologist.  My perfect college would have a home and family like atmosphere both on and off the court.
