Early Life and Education
Ellen Grace Philpotts-Page was born on February 21, 1987 in Halifax Nova Scotia. His mother worked as a teacher while his father was a graphic designer. He was assigned female at birth and went by the name Ellen prior to transitioning.
Page attended Halifax Grammer School, Queen Elizabeth High School, and then the Shambhala School, from where he graduated in 2005. He then spent two years in Toronto studying at the Interact Program at Vaughan Road Academy.
Throughout much of this time, he had been acting, landing his first role at the age of 10 in the television movie, “Pit Pony.”
Elliot Page’s Acting Career
Elliot Page began his acting career in the television series “Pit Pony” and later appeared in the spin-off series of the same name. He received a Young Artist Award nomination for his role in the series. He also appeared in films like “Marion Bridge,” “Touch & Go,” and “Love That Bo,” as well as several television films. He won the Gemini Award for Best Performance in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series for his role in “Ghost Cat.”
Page’s breakout role came in 2005 when he appeared in the film “Hard Candy” and won the Austin Film Critics Association Award for Best Actress. Elliot Page: From Coming Out as Gay to Coming Out as Transgender
In 2014, Ellen Page came out as gay, tired of hiding her true self. In 2018, now presenting as female, she married dancer and choreographer Emma Portner but they separated in mid-2020, leading to their divorce in early 2021. In December 2020, Page came out as transgender and revealed his new name, Elliot, due to the anti-transgender rhetoric in politics. In March 2021, Elliot appeared on the cover of “Time” magazine, the first openly trans man to do so. In the interview, he explained that he was queer and nonbinary and had felt like he was a boy since the age of nine. Elliot was also in the process of recovering from top surgery.

Elliot Page purchased a home in LA’s Nichols Canyon for $1.7 million in 2014. In December 2018, Page listed the home and sold it a few months later for $2.1 million.
