Of all the Real Housewives shows, The Real Housewives of Orange County has been running the longest. Although some of the show’s OGs such as Vicki Gunvalson are no longer in the cast, there have been many new cast additions that make up for her absence.
Gina Kirschenheiter and Emily Simpson were once newbies in 2018. Over the past four years, viewers have gotten to know both Gina and Emily well. From their marital issues to raising their three young children, they’re now a part of the furniture on RHOC. So, let’s find out more about Emily Simpson’s relationship with her father and what she thinks of her husband, Shane, as a dad.

Attorney Emily Simpson joined the cast of the Real Housewives of Orange County in season 13 which aired in 2018. She was introduced on the show as a friend of Tamra Judge and “a lawyer by day and party planner by night“.
Emily grew up in Middletown, Ohio and speaking of her childhood, she said during RHOC season 13 episode 1 that her family was poor. Emily added: “I feel very appreciative of where I came because it made me who I am today“.
She said she wanted an education as well as a better life, Emily added: “I tried to make good choices that would lead me to a certain lifestyle and I don’t know, it worked out.“.
Emily Simpson grew up without a father
Emily Simpson has spoken about her difficult upbringing and the fact that she grew up without a father on RHOC.
In a 2018 blog post for Bravo TV, Emily said: “My mother and father divorced when I was 6, and my sister was 3. My dad left my mom for another woman“.
Emily’s mother, Carolyn, has suffered from depression all of her life and Emily wrote in her blog that her mother “blamed” her father “for all of her troubles“, adding: “She spent hours on the phone with friends crying and discussing my dad“.

The RHOC star praises her husband
Given Emily’s father being absent during her upbringing, she’s taken to Instagram in the past to pay tribute to her husband, Shane, for being a great father.
Emily has been married to Shane since 2009 and the pair were friends for many years before tying the knot. She said during RHOC that she felt blessed to have married into Shane’s family and called her in-laws “the kindest” and “amazing“.
Shane and Emily are parents to daughter Annabelle and twins Luke and Keller. Speaking of Shane’s parenting skills in 2019, Emily wrote on Instagram: “I grew up without a dad, but my babies will never know what that feels like. They will only know the unconditional love of a dad who reads to them, plays monster with them, brushes their hair…“.
