Veteran NFL running back Damien Williams was arrested Monday on a battery charge, according to Ryan Yousefi of Coconut Creek Talk.
Police in Coconut Creek, Florida, reported to a domestic violence complaint and found a woman "with visible injuries, including scratch marks and bruising on her arms and redness on her neck," per Yousefi.
The woman, who is 10 weeks pregnant with Williams' child, told authorities she and Williams got into an argument over the food for their dog, and things escalated from there.
"Williams is accused of initiating physical contact by grabbing the victim's neck, leading to a physical altercation," Yousefi reported.
The 31-year-old remains a free agent after the Arizona Cardinals waived him in November. He had appeared in three games for the team, running for 43 yards on 11 attempts.
The Miami Dolphins originally signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2014, and he spent four seasons in South Florida. He moved on to the Kansas City Chiefs, where he played for two years and won a Super Bowl title in 2019. His NFL career has included stops with the Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons and Las Vegas Raiders.
