In 2006, the legendary Tuscan director and actor Francesco Nuti was involved in a domestic catastrophe that would forever alter his life.

Who was Francesco Nuti? Born on May 17, 1955, in Prato, Tuscany, Francesco Nuti had a humble beginning.

An itinerant barber and a stay-at-home mom raised him.

Francesco embarked on his adventure with his older brother Giovanni, a successful physician, musician, and composer.

He graduated from high school in 1974 and immediately worked in the textile sector.

But the world of the show industry was where his heart truly belonged.

Francesco Nuti started in the industry by performing in amateur monologues, where he would skillfully present his original sketches.

Alessandro Benvenuti and Athina Cenci, impressed by his extraordinary talent, invited him to join their celebrated cabaret group, the Giancattivi.

In the late ’70s, the band’s star rose rapidly thanks to their frequent performances on prominent radio and TV programs like Black Out and Non-Stop.

The 1981 film “Ad Ovest di Paperino,” directed by Benvenuti and based on the music of the Giancattivi, was a turning point in Francesco Nuti’s career as an entertainer.

He left the band and pursued a career independently as an actor and playwright.

The films “Madonna che silenzio c’è stasera” (1982), “Io, Chiara e lo Scuro” (1983), and “Son contento” (1983) are the results of Nuti’s work with director Maurizio Ponzi.

Nuti won several honors for his performance in the second film, “Io, Chiara e lo Scuro,” including the David di Donatello and the Nastro d’Argento.

Nuti made his directorial debut with the 1985 film “Casablanca, Casablanca,” a sequel to his previous film “Io, Chiara e lo Scuro.”

It was his first time directing a film.

In addition to his success in the film industry, Nuti released four albums as a singer between 1982 and 1992.

Francesco Nuti’s career took a nosedive in the mid-1990s due to personal problems and bad casting decisions.

He had rocky relationships with actresses Clarissa Burt and Isabella Ferrari and his professional difficulties. 

Depression and drinking were problems for him. 

However, Nuti reached a turning point that would change his life forever in 2006. 

Nuti fell down the stairs at home. He was in a coma for weeks due to the catastrophic brain injury he sustained.

Until November 24, 2006, he was in the care of the Rome-based medical facility Policlinico Umberto.

After that, he went through several different rehabilitation programs and treatment centers.

Unfortunately, the collision left permanent scars on Nuti’s mind and body, and he was never the same.

Despite his occasional public appearances (such as on Barbara D’Urso’s TV show “Stasera che Sera” in 2011), there were considerable barriers to his ability to communicate. 

When his daughter Ginevra turned 18 and became legally responsible for him in 2017, she took on that duty.

Francesco Nuti’s cause of death: Francesco Nuti died after seventeen years of pain and isolation.

In a house accident on September 2, 2006, he suffered from a cerebral hematoma.

That’s why he has been unable to return to work.

The despondent actor was cared for by his mother and musician brother Giovanni during his months-long coma.

His brain was injured in the Francesco Nuti Incidente accident. It left him unable to speak or move. 

Nuti made a few public appearances on Italian television in the following years. During which his infirmity was discussed.

Many of Nuti’s fans were moved to tears or angry by what they saw as an attempt to profit from the former director’s tragedy. 

On September 21, 2016, after a second fall, Nuti was sent to the hospital in critical condition.

On Monday, when his daughter Ginevra conveyed the news of his loss, she thanked everyone who had aided her father in his final days, especially the staff at Rome’s Villa Vedre nursing home.
