On Wednesday morning, November 9, 2022, Fred Hickman died at the age of 66.

Fred Hickman’s Cause Of Death

Nick Charles And Freud Hickman Relationship 

Nick Charles was the closest friend of Fred Hickman. In the 1980s, they both shared the screen for an extended period and made their name in the sports world simultaneously. They appeared as regulars on several TV screens in America. 

Nick Charles was a taxi driver before he started his career, and later, he was considered the first sports anchor at CNN, but unfortunately, he died of lung cancer at the age of 64 in 2009.

The first time they appeared on the TV screen and for the high football game in Springfield, Ill. Charles hosted for Springfield’s WICS-TV, and Hickman hosted for Springfield Southeast High.

Later, they both worked together on CNN and celebrated after completing their 3,000th appearance as co-anchors of CNN’s Sports Tonight. 

Who Is Fred Hickman?

Fred Hickman is known as a former sports anchor and managing editor by his profession.

He worked for the evening newscast of the African-American cable news network Black News Channel in the United States. 

Freud Hickman opened his eyes on October 17, 1956, and spent his childhood in Springfield, Illinois. He graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1978.

After his graduation, he co-hosted the CNN program Sports Tonight which goes through his struggling period. In 1989 and 1993, he earned “CableACE awards.”

In 2004, he received another award, the “New York Sports Emmy,” and the same year, he was employed by the ESPN on Sports center as a sports anchor. 

Fred Hickman hosted many sports-related shows, such as Baseball, Football, and many more, and served his duty for three decades.
