Pete Wicks is all set to strip down naked to raise awareness of cancer. From Monday, December 11, the former TOWIE star is set to join a line-up of other celebrities on The Full Monty 2023 as they prepare to show off their private parts in aid of the disease. It comes after Pete faced a cancer scare earlier this year.
Pete Wicks’ cancer scare
Pete Wicks faced a cancer scare after discovering a lump on his genitalia, which he decided to ignore for three months. Thankfully, the lump was not cancerous.
The former TOWIE star, whose uncle suffered testicular cancer, revealed his own scare ahead of The Full Monty: Jingle Balls airing, urging people to get any lumps checked.
He found a lump in January but ignored it for three months as it grew larger, blaming fear and male ego for not getting it checked. Pete grew self-conscious of the lump and finally decided to go to his GP.
The NHS states a lump is one of the typical symptoms of testicular cancer.
He hopes to help other men
Pete panicked after receiving inconclusive test results back from the GP after they tested the lump. He then had to wait three weeks to find out if the lump was cancerous or not. Thankfully, his results came back negative.
He told The Mirror at the time: “It was affecting parts of my life, I was seeing someone and became self-conscious, but once I got through that stage it was, ‘Woah, if it is cancer, what would that do to my mum?'”
“So I plucked up the courage to stop being a big wimp about it,” Pete added. He had the lump drained but says it would have been “devastating” if the test results came back positive.
“I was fearful, when you find a lump, especially down there, you think “Oh s**t”. You don’t want anything to be wrong with your wedding tackle. I kept it to myself and didn’t even tell Mum,” Pete admitted.
Reality star joins The Full Monty 2023
Pete has joined The Celebrity Full Monty: Jingle Balls for 2023 on ITV. After his health scare, he decided to sign up for the festive show and get naked to raise awareness of the need to check for signs.
Along with Gemma Collins, Julia Bradbury, Ben Cohen, Vanessa Bauer, Paul Burrell and Ashley Cain, Pete is getting naked to encourage other men. “Blokes always want to be OK and never a burden,” he warned.
He added this is just “ego pride” and “not a good thing to do” in the interview. Pete and other celebrities will perform a festive dance before throwing off their costumes.
