Personal Statement

My name is Gavin Niland. I am entering my senior year and an honor roll student at Paramus Catholic High School in Paramus, New Jersey. My collegiate goals are to find a great academic college with a competitive baseball program.  I haven't decided what career I want to pursue. I feel I am a good character for your team, because all of my life I have pushed myself to be a better person, player and student. I participated in the AABC Willie Mays World Series in Puerto Rico when I was 10 years old. Two years later I participated and represented NJ in the 2011 Little League World Series. In 2013, I was awarded the Babe Ruth Rookie Of The Year. In high school I was a starter Freshmen at second base. As a Sophomore I lettered Varsity, playing third base and pitcher. This past season year I was the starting first baseman and relief pitcher on Varsity. I lead the team in defense as well as O.B.P. and doubles in one of the toughest divisions in the State of NJ. I just completed playing summer ball for the NJ Yankees. I had a great season on the mound. When I wasn't pitching, my coach used me on the corners. I have been working out 4 days a week in Havastraw, NY to  increase my velocity on the mound. I am a young Senior and still growing with a fresh healthy arm.

For the last 3 years I have worked hard at my job everyday after school on the off season. I recently became a volunteer firefighter in the Borough of Paramus. I like to challenge myself academically in school and take honors classes when the opportunity arises. I am currently an Ambassador and when I was a freshmen I was chosen to have potential incoming freshmen shadow me for the day. As a person, I became responsible at an early age. My Mom passed away tragically in 2010 when I was 12 years old. This causing me to watch my little brother while my Dad works and runs his daily errands. I look forward to fulfilling my dreams by going to a great college and playing baseball. If given an opportunity I guarantee I will give it a 110 percent. My latest video -
