Gavril Yushvaev: From Prison to Billionaire

Gavril Yushvaev, a Russian businessman, has a net worth of $1.7 billion. He invested his money in various industries ranging from car dealerships and casinos to dairy and juice businesses. Born in Makhachkala, Russia in 1957, Yushvaev moved to Moscow at a young age. He was imprisoned in 1980 for robbery but was released in 1989, after which he immediately started dealing with business.

In the early 1990s, he established Trinity, which owned one of Moscow’s first casinos, car dealerships, and Metelitsa, a popular dance club. Later on, he acquired a stake in Wimm-Bill-Dann and sold his 19.6% share to Pepsico for $1.1 billion.

In 2013, he partnered with billionaire Zelimkhan Mutsoev to buy a 38% stake in gold producer Polyus Gold for $3.6 billion. Additionally, he invested $300 million in a 4.3-million-square-foot Moscow real estate development with Vladislav Doronin, the ex-boyfriend of supermodel Naomi Campbell. The vast real estate property will include an 85-story tower with a boutique hotel, offices, a multiplex, and parking for 3,900 cars.
