George Condo: American Contemporary Visual Artist with $400 Million Net Worth
George Condo is a celebrated American artist who specializes in various mediums such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, and drawing. Born in Concord, New Hampshire in 1957, Condo studied at the University of Massachusetts Lowell before moving to Boston where he worked in a silk screen shop and played in a band. He later moved to New York City to become an artist and coined the term Artificial Realism.
Condo emerged in the East Village art scene during the 1980s and has been commissioned to create art for book covers, including Jack Kerouac’s Book of Sketches. His work has been exhibited all over the world and he has permanent collections in prestigious institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
In May 2018, George Condo broke his own record for the most expensive piece sold when one of his paintings sold for $6.16 million (with fees).
