Georgia at Tennessee line, prediction, odds: Top-ranked Bulldogs heavily favored on the road

Defending back-to-back national champion Georgia is in action at Tennessee in what could be another SEC thriller. Looking to avoid its first loss of the season, Georgia will enter Knoxville as a double-digit favorite.

If it seems like it’s been years since Georgia has lost a football game, that’s because it has been. Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs are seeking their 28th straight win as they prepare to face a conference opponent they haven’t lost to since 2016. A victory on Saturday would extend the streak, but a convincing win might be more critical to hold onto the No. 1 ranking.

Georgia tight end Brock Bowers returned in last week’s 52-17 win against Ole Miss. Bowers had three catches for 34 yards and a touchdown after missing two games due to injury.

Georgia’s backfield duo of Daijun Edwards and Kendall Milton have combined for more than 1,100 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground. Big-time performances out of both could be key in pushing the Bulldogs past a Volunteers team that has failed to stop the run in any of its three defeats this season. Florida’s Trevor Etienne rushed for 172 yards against Tennessee in Week 3, Alabama’s Jase McClellan ripped off 115 yards a month ago and Missouri’s Cody Schrader went off for 205 rushing yards and another 116 receiving yards last week. If Georgia replicates that production, it means Tennessee’s defense is in for a tough night.

Stopping the run may be a key to victory for Tennessee, but the magic number on offense has been 30 points. The Vols are 6-0 when reaching at least 30 points, while 1-3 in the games falling under that mark. Whether that’s by way of Joe Milton getting the job done with his arm or Jaylen Wright and Dylan Sampson fueling one of the conference’s most productive rushing attacks, Tennessee will need to score.
