The future of Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris will be hotly debated throughout the summer, with plenty of transfer rumours linking the France No. 1 with a move away from White Hart Lane. Manchester United have been most frequently linked with buying Lloris, although he's sure to draw interest from clubs beyond the Red Devils.

Domenech Tells Lloris to Reject United Interest, Leave Spurs

Sunday, July 5

Former French national team manager Raymond Domenech told reporters that he believes Lloris "has to play in Chelsea, Arsenal or Manchester City, to play in the European Cup," according to Richard Jolly of ESPN FC. Domenech continued:

Tottenham is a big club—it is not the biggest. Manchester United qualified for the Champions League, but I can't see really the difference with Tottenham.

For me, it's Chelsea, Arsenal or Manchester City. Because I think Manchester United is no more a big club, in England, for me. I think like that.

I think Arsenal will be every time a big club, Chelsea also—City is becoming a big club— but I think United is with Tottenham, with the other clubs. Not one of the biggest clubs, so there's no difference.

For me, he's a great goalkeeper so he needs to be in the best English club, or French, or Italian, or German.

On June 25, Mateo Roggi, the agent of Genoa goalkeeper and reported Spurs target Mattia Perin, is certain Lloris won't be leaving White Hart Lane during the summer, as reported by Tutto Mercato Web (h/t Sky Sports for Fox Sports).

When asked about his client's future, he said Spurs wouldn't need a replacement for Lloris: "I have a brilliant relationship with Tottenham, especially Franco Baldini. ... Tottenham are aiming for the Champions League next year, so they have decided not to sell the two stars in the squad, Harry Kane and Lloris, regardless of price."

The France international has been linked with a move to one of the Premier League's top clubs all summer, with Manchester United often mentioned as the likeliest destination. The Red Devils may need a replacement for David De Gea, who has been heavily linked with Real Madrid, per the Daily Mail's Mike Keegan.

According to L'Equipe (h/t Sport Witness), Lloris wants to leave Spurs, and the French newspaper went as far as to claim there is an agreement between the stopper and Tottenham chairman Dan Levy regarding the fee it would take the club to sell:

The L'Equipe story is from yesterday and said that he believes he has a verbal agreement with Levy that he can join a club for €25m.

Lloris is widely regarded as one of the world's best stoppers, but due to Tottenham's inability to qualify for the Champions League, he hasn't been able to show what he can do on the biggest stage in club football.

Although he's yet to openly comment on the matter, it's easy to see why the 28-year-old would be desperate for a move to a bigger club, as it would give him the chance to finally chase silverware.
