The pool guy who had an affair with Jerry Falwell Jr.’s wife, Becki Tilley claimed she approached him at a Miami hotel and promised love-making activities as long as her husband could witness before things got more serious.

The couple has spoken openly about the incident that caused Jerry Falwell Jr. to retire from Liberty University in 2020, more than a year after it was revealed that Becki Falwell had a six-year affair with a former Miami pool boy, Giancarlo Granda.

Giancarlo Granda’s next book, Off the Deep End: Jerry and Becki Falwell and The Collapse of an Evangelical Dynasty, shared the details of the relationship history when Granda was a 20-year-old pool boy. The school sued him when Granda revealed his relationship with his wife.

The Couple Made A New Revelation

The couple, who claimed to have been able to move past the drama together, shed new light on the affair’s circumstances and its aftermath in a series of exclusive interviews with Vanity Fair.

She revealed to Vanity Fair that she didn’t have a college life and that her curiosity ultimately led to the biggest regret she ever had: the fling with Giancarlo Granda, a 20-year-old pool attendant in Miami Beach.

Granda approached the couple while they were on vacation at the Fontainebleau hotel pool in March 2012, and he ended up giving her his phone. This led to romantic texts with Granda, the pair claimed to Vanity Fair.

I could talk to someone, Becki remarked. ‘it’s that rush of the hormone. Suddenly, a young, attractive man starts texting you and showing interest in you, and you think, Wow, this is good.’

Granda previously admitted to having an affair with Becki in front of Falwell Jr. to Reuters. Becki and Falwell Jr. both denied his involvement and claimed that Granda was attempting to blackmail them, claims that he has previously refuted.

Granda reportedly texted Vanity Fair’s Gabriel Sherman, saying, ‘I can tell you that everything will be answered in the book and Hulu documentary.’ Granda did not immediately reply to People’s request for comment.

Becki claimed that while Falwell Jr. was looking at properties in South Florida for a business opportunity that Granda had offered back in Miami that summer, she and Granda had their first sexual encounter.

Becki made the decision to tell her husband about the affair that December, even though Falwell Jr.’s business contact with Granda persisted until 2014.

Falwell Jr. claimed that despite knowing about the romance, he nonetheless followed through on a business arrangement with Granda, investing $1.8 million in a hostel where Granda was also a partner. 

Granda even apologized to Falwell Jr. about the relationship, Falwell Jr. claimed to the magazine.

In the end, Becki claimed she felt terrible and decided to discontinue their sexual relationship in 2014 after Granda started dating seriously.

The couple alleged that Granda continued to be a part of their lives even after Becki’s sexual relationship ended because of his business connections with Falwell Jr.

However, when that economic partnership deteriorated, the Falwells started to worry.

The couple expressed gratitude for being able to mend wounds when discussing the state of their marriage at the time they spoke with Vanity Fair.

“We spend more time together than any other couple you will ever meet,” Becki remarked. “He forgave me, and Jesus teaches forgiveness,” the speaker said.
