Personal Statement
I played lacrosse for two years when I was 5th and 6th grade while living in Massachusetts. After moving to a New Hampshire town without a nearby lacrosse program, I did not play between 2010 and 2014, focusing instead on soccer, basketball and baseball. After we moved to Naples, Florida in 2012, I played in Barron Collier High School's basketball program for two seasons, until deciding to try out for the lacrosse program in the Spring of 2014. Over 70 students tried out for the program that year, my sophomore year. Approximately 22 made each of the two teams. I was a top six middie on the JV team. This year, I made the varsity, and am one of four attackmen who rotate playing time on a team that was predicted to be the state champion by Florida Lacrosse News. I am proud of that accomplishment as most of my team mates have been playing consistently for 5-6 years at this point, and this is really only my second year in the sport.
I attribute this accomplishment to several things. First, I played on club teams in the spring/summer and fall. Second, I have a stick in my hands constantly, wall ball, cradling, etc. Third, I worked out almost every day between the end of last season and the beginning of try outs. I consider myself extremely coachable. I do every drill to the best of my ability and I try to do exactly what my coaches instruct me to do.
My goal is to play lacrosse in college and be an integral part of that team while pursuing my degree.
