Personal Statement
I attend one of the most prestigious academic schools in the country. Attending my school has made me understand that hard work is necessary for success, whether it be academics or athletics, because I know that nothing that's important comes easy. As an incoming freshman, I trained to make the varsity water polo team and accomplished that goal. It was a new sport for me. I train for baseball throughout the year. I have learned over time to ask my coaches and teachers how I could improve in the class room and also on the field. During my mid-winter training I began working with a strength and conditioning trainer. After working with a trainer my coaches noticed a big improvement. I was very fortunate to play on a travel team in New Hampshire during the first summer that Covid-19 hit because I would not have had the same opportunity in New York City. I appreciate the sacrifices my parents have made for me. opportunity in New York City. I appreciate the sacrifices my parents have made for me.
As I approach my Senior Year, academic success has become even more important to me. Based on the acceptance criteria of the schools that I am interested in attending it is my goal to achieve high SAT scores. This is still a work in progress. I have taken on leadership roles when those opportunities have come my way. Throughout the current school year, I have mentored younger students at a school that doesn't have the same resources as mine. Having a younger sister with Down syndrome gives me great empathy for others but at the same time to appreciate my own abilities. I would like to continue playing baseball in college.
