Personal Statement

Hard work in and out of season is very important to me.  When others would wake up later in the day or rest from their work, I still make sure to go out and workout and work on the things I need to work on. This also plays into my academics, where I focus on what I need to get done and make sure I get it done correctly with my own efforts.  I may not have the gifts I want like many  other talented athletes have (height, athleticism, strength, etc.), but I know that by putting all the work into training and into working hard, I can be better than any other athlete, physically and mentally.

I'd also like to thank God who gave me abilities that I thought I never had. It's a great opportunity for me to exercise the gifts He's given me into college athletics. God has given me a place in track in order for me to not only exercise my abilities as a runner, but also to encourage my teammates and support them in any way I can. Because at the end of the day, we're one team, and one family. I'd always love to pray for my team and for my relay teams especially before the races. It brings us closer as a team and I hope to have that same feeling in college as well.

My family as well have been a big part of my journey and I'd love to give them a shoutout for believing in me and providing me with the things I need to excel in track.

All in all, I give praise and thanks to God who gives me strength and the endurance to not only run the race in track, but in the race of a life and I'm getting better at it everyday.
