Kate Quigley, a well-known stand-up comedian, considers herself fortunate to be alive after three of her friends were killed by a suspected accidental group fentanyl overdose.

Born on December 18, 1982 and raised in Canton, Ohio, USA, Kate Quingley is not only a stand-up comedian, but also an actress, host and model.

She came into prominence after she hosted two famous shows, Undercover on Playboy’s TV and Date Fails on Apple Podcast. Kate was also named as the host of the 2016 AVN Awards, which aired on Showtime in March. 

Quigley’s previous TV credits also Include The Office, The Danny Comden Project, The Josh Wolf Show. Talkshow with Spike Feresten, and The Megan Mullally Show.

She performs often at the Improv, Laugh Factory, Icehouse, Comedy Store, and Haha Comedy Club in Hollywood as a stand-up comedian. 

Also, she came back from a military tour that took her to Japan, Singapore, Guam, and Diego Garcia, where she performed for the military.

Kate’s outrageous actions, like storming formal events wearing a bikini and hosting the smash live stream show The Hollywood Pool Party, have made her build a large internet fanbase.

Kate Quigley has another name, Katy Rice. She shares a close bond with her mother, Fran Wyles. In 2000, she attended Jackson High School Massillon, Ohio.

She has two siblings named Kelly Rice and Chris Rice. Her parents were separated a long time ago and she also has step-siblings, Dan Wyles and Niki Wyles Kirven.

Kate got married to her high school boyfriend when she was 19 and divorced ten years later. After a few years after divorce, she began seeing another man.

In the year 2020, Kate was also dating Darius Rucker. However, after a period, the pair split up.

Career

After Kate Quigley completed her high school, Quigley moved to Chicago to pursue theater at the Chicago College of Performing Arts. 

She experimented with stand-up comedy at open mic nights while being in Chicago. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Roosevelt University in acting.

Quigley began to understand that making others laugh was maybe her favorite activity, so she worked really hard to become the comedian that she is now.

And then in 2006, she relocated to Southern California to pursue a career in stand-up comedy and acting.

She was inspired from her teen days while she was raised in Canton, Ohio by watching the character of Zack Morris on Saved By The Bell.

As a kid, I said, ‘I want to be him.  In a recent phone conversation, she added,He’s cool, he’s funny.”

She realized she was getting famous for her great sense of humor. Then I started to become more popular in school by being funny,” she said.

Quigley once stated she’s somewhat ashamed to express her love for the NBC teen comedy from the 1980s, but she’s open about what made her want to attempt comedy.

She was motivated to pursue her passion by a number of factors. Quigley also liked watching “An Evening At The Improv” with her father.

She used to idolize Kathy Griffin, Dave Attell, and especially Joan Rivers for their comedic talents, and learned a lot from their roles. In an interview with Dave Osborn, she explained:

“The reason I love Joan Rivers so much is because I feel like Joan Rivers was the first female comic to not give a (expletive).”

She went on to say how outspoken she is regarding stereotypical issues: She broke so many stereotypes about women. She wasn’t afraid to talk about sex or plastic surgery. I really respect people who go up there and they’re themselves.”

Despite all of this, she added that stand-up comedy is her favorite and that she will continue to perform it no matter what.

Kate enjoys it when people approach her after her gigs and tell her how much they enjoyed the comedy and how much they relate to the jokes.

Incident of a Drug Overdose

Kate held a house party in her luxurious $1.8 million residence she rents on the Venice Canals in September 2021.

She and her companions Fuquan “Fu” Johnson, Enrico “Rico” Colangeli, as well as Natalie Williamson were alleged of using fentanyl-laced cocaine.

The drug is a highly potent synthetic opioid that’s also 50 times stronger than heroin. After a while, Kate Quigley was found unconscious at home by authorities. 

Along with stand-up comedian Enrico Colangeli, and Quigley’s buddy Natalie Williamson, another comedian Fuquan Johnson, were declared dead on arrival.

Quingley was taken to a hospital and, while recovering, she told up about the harrowing incident that had left her traumatized for life.

She revealed to co-hosts Jada Pinkett Smith, Adrienne Banfield Norris, and Willow Smith that she thought her legs were “asleep” at first.

I couldn’t feel my legs,” she remembered.I went to stand, and that’s when I really realized. … And I started to get scared.

Quigley then tried to communicate with Colangeli, she thought he was asleep.I started to say, ‘Hey, Rico, Rico,” said Quigley, who couldn’t see Johnson and Williamson. 

She just assumed he’d slept off; he was still holding a guitar. It never crossed my mind he was dead,” she said.

The model contacted her uncle, apparently believingRico was OK,” until she tossed a shoe at her pal, who was not waking up.

Her uncle arrived while she was unconscious, and when he touched her, she turned cold. He then called 911.
