Personal Statement

Simply put - I love playing indoor and sand volleyball. Receiving a volleyball scholarship, especially from a private Christian school, allows me to keep playing the game I'm passionate about, to grow in my personal faith and to realize my goal of being a part of history becoming alive to students so they can hold onto its beauty and lessons for the rest of their lives.  By obtaining an undergraduate degree in history, it would further my interest of encouraging and investing in others.  I can teach secondary education, become a college professor, possibly become an archaeologist, or even just travel around the world to study abroad.   And, whether it be a six-month trip or for an entire year, I welcome the opportunity to study in a foreign land. The only way I can pursue a college degree though is through the help of others and by scholarships as my family cannot give financially support through my collegiate career.  But, my parents have taught me rich lessons of giving back to our community with time, love and respect - with limited monetary return in exchange.  With servant-hearts, they have Pastored a small church for almost 20 years, and for the past 10 years have sought to grow a startup remodeling business to ensure a livelihood for my sister and I.  Partnering with my family in their church and business have taught me the value of serving others and working hard.  This understanding of diligence and serving is helpful for my future schooling years and beyond.
