A wealthy art dealer’s son killed himself after his model girlfriend ended their relationship, it has been reported.
Kai Schachter-Rich, 21, had been dating 20-year-old Lady Lola Crichton-Stuart, daughter of the 7th Marquess of Bute.
The couple enjoyed a glamorous lifestyle posting photos of parties, art shows and trips around the world on Instagram.
But a police officer told an inquest he discovered a text message to Mr Schachter-Rich from Lady Lola, in which she appeared to have ended the relationship.
The Slade School of Fine Art student could not face life without his girlfriend and his body was found at his north London home.
His friend Jordan Vickers had gone to the property after Lady Lola said she had not heard from him all day, St Pancras Coroner’s Court was told. She was in Spain at the time, the inquest heard.
Mr Vickers climbed through a first floor window after several attempts to contact him by phone.
Paramedics arrived at 10.22pm and pronounced Mr Schachter-Rich dead shortly after.
A post mortem examination found he took a cocktail of drink and drugs before he hanged himself.
Police also found an empty bottle of whisky and traces of ecstasy, cocaine and cannabis were also found in his body, although they did not contribute to his death.
Lady Lola and Mr Schachter-Rich had celebrated Valentine’s Day together just weeks before the tragedy.
Writing after his death, Lady Lola said: “You taught me so much about life and love, my role model, my rockstar.
“A life without you is a life I can’t bear the thought of. The thought you were in pain and suffering in silence breaks my heart.
“I wish I could have done more to save you. You made this world a better, brighter place with your epic energy and goofy grin and huge heart.
“I loved you with every bone in my body and more.’
Assistant Coroner Sarah Burke recorded a verdict though it wasn’t entirely clear why he chose to take his own life and there may have been other causes.
After Kai's death, she founded charity Eternity to bring attention to suicide, addiction and mental health which she said helped her to 'heal and cope with grief in a healthy way'.
Lola was eight months sober when her father passed away on April 2022 - having sought help for 'unhealthy coping mechanisms' following the suicide of her boyfriend Kai Schachter and the accidental overdose of her best friend Ila Scheckter.
She had 'put all her energy' into a ball to raise awareness and money for mental health charities to avoid 'anyone else feeling this pain' which she 'wouldn't wish on her worst enemy'.
