After suffering a concussion in last week's game against Alabama, LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels apparently won't have to miss any time.

Per ESPN's Adam Rittenberg, LSU head coach Brian Kelly said Daniels is expected to pass concussion protocol and he's considered probable for this Saturday's game against Florida.

Kelly added that Daniels went through a non-contact workout on Wednesday and then participated in Thursday's practice.

"He's been able to prepare in a manner that he feels comfortable and we feel comfortable, or we wouldn't put him out there," Kelly said

Daniels suffered the concussion in the fourth quarter of last week's game against the Crimson Tide on a hit by Alabama linebacker Dallas Turner that drew a roughing the passer penalty. He returned to the field for one play before being taken into the injury tent for evaluation. Redshirt sophomore Garrett Nussmeier replaced him as the Tigers went on to suffer a 42-28 loss that dropped them to 6-3.

Kelly noted that Nussmeier would be ready to start in place of Daniels if he turns out to be unavailable against the Gators.

"Garrett's too good of a quarterback for us to compromise the offense in any way," Kelly said.

A fifth-year senior in his second year as LSU's starting quarterback, Daniels is among the leading candidates for the Heisman Trophy this season. He's thrown for 2,792 yards, 27 touchdowns and four interceptions while also adding a team-high 684 rushing yards and six more scores. His average of 386.2 yards of total offense leads the nation, and he ranks fourth with 310.2 passing yards per game.

The Tigers are surely hoping to have Daniels back under center when they face the Gators in Saturday's rivalry game.
