Personal Statement

The game of soccer has taught me many life lessons and it continues to do so the more I play. Perseverance is the biggest lesson I have learned through the game of soccer. When I was 12 I was diagnosed with type one diabetes, this was very hard for me because I had no idea how I was going to play soccer and manage diabetes. Another lesson of perseverance that I overcame was in my sophomore year of high school. I began the year starting on the varsity team and by the end of the year found myself sitting on the bench. Likewise that year for club, I did not get much playing time, I realized I had a choice to make if I wanted to play soccer in college. I would need to work harder on and off the field to become a better player. That following year I started all games for school and club earning second team all conference and all district, and this year first team all conference and first team all-district and honorable mention all-state.

The lesson of perseverance does not only apply to the soccer field but also to the classroom. I know that I need to work hard and get good grades in order to get a degree so I can be successful in the world after soccer.
