Personal Statement
As a highly competitive individual, I strive to be my best in all areas of my life. Academically and athletically, I push myself to improve upon my own accomplishments and always be tenacious. I hope to study medicine to better the world on a medical stage and am looking for a university to provide opportunities in research and this field of study. Though my academic aspirations are lofty, I want to continue to improve my running ability and explore new events and strategies to refine my racing.
Within running, I thrive in a team environment that balances support and competitive encouragement. As a team captain on my high school team, I see the value in the team environment when facing the mental obstacles running presents. Before I committed to competitive running, I played soccer. When I focused on training for running, the thrill of the mental challenge and the relief of pushing the body to its maximum potential caused me to fall in love with the sport. Within my education and my running, I have worked with many different personality types and understand the value each brings to a group.
