Personal Statement

Hello! I'm Mike Crockett.  I am a running back on the Thousand Oaks High School varsity football team. During the 2017 season I set a school record with a 96 yd rush for a TD.  I am 5'9", 170 pounds.  During my sophomore year I played on the JV team where I scored 17 touch downs (three on kick off returns) and rushed for over 1000 yards. I was also a captain.  My highest honor was being awarded MVP of the year.  This spring I participated in FBU's Los Angeles football camp from that camp, I earned an invitation to the FBU Top Gun football camp in South Carolina,  July 8-10 2018.  I got a lot out of the camp and know that I will leverage the improvements in my skill set that came from participating in this program in the coming season.

In my freshman year I played on the freshman team.  I did kick off returns and played running back for the first time in my football career.  I was awarded the most improved offensive player that year.  (During my 4 years playing youth football, I played defensive end, linebacker and safety positions).  I was also pulled up to the varsity team for the California State (CIF) play offs.  I chose to play on the JV team my sophomore year so that I could get lots of reps and playing time in order to continue to build my skills as a running back.  

I have a passion for the sport of football.  I have real drive for performing the very best I can every game.  I provide leadership by example in working hard in every practice and leaving it all on the field in every game I play.   I have been told that I have an infectious love of the game that brings out the best in my team mates. Its been a long standing dream of mine to play football in college and I hope to some day play in the NFL.

I am interested in schools that have good academics and a strong football team. I have a 2.9 GPA. I am interested in majoring in business.  I would prefer to play in the western or southern regions.  I am looking for a scholarship and am willing to travel further for financial support. 

My athletic goals are to play football at the highest level of competition possible and to make an impact on the team.
