Personal Statement
My name is Perrin Pennington, and I currently play for Tophat 03/04 GA Gold. I have been at Tophat for the past two years, but I played for OL Reign Academy my freshman year of high school, where we qualified for DA National Playoffs and won DA Cup before COVID hit. I now live in Athens, Georgia, where I attend Oconee County High School. I just finished my high school season this year with a second consecutive trip to the Final Four. I led the team in both goals scored (14) and assists (16). We are hoping to bring home our first State Title next year. I am honored to have been selected to the 1st team All-Region and to be named GHSA Region 8-AAA Player of the Year. I have been nominated for Athens-Area Player of the Year, as well, which hasn’t been chosen yet. In addition, I was chosen for the GACA All Star Soccer game, and I was nominated for the Positive Athlete Award. Finally, I was invited to the Southeast All American Showcase this June, but I wasn’t able to attend due to playoff preparation for TopHat.
I have played in many different systems in my career from pure possession to an aggressive direct attacking style. I primarily play attacking mid (8 or 10), but I have experience in all midfield roles. I have also played a lot as a 7 or 11, and even some at the 9 (mostly false 9). I am a very technical and intelligent player, which allows me to both see the right play and execute it perfectly. I think two steps ahead to be efficient on and off the ball. I have an unweighted 4.0 GPA this year, while taking 5 AP classes.
I am looking for a competitive Division 1 program at a school that will challenge me academically. I am have lived and played in different parts of the country and am excited to look at programs at schools nationwide.
