Burnley suffered their eighth defeat in nine Premier League home matches at the weekend as former manager Sean Dyche made a triumphant return to Turf Moor with Everton.

A 2-0 win for the Blues made the bookies shorten the odds on Burnley being relegated from the top flight to 2/7 third favourites behind Sheffield United (1/12) and Luton Town (2/9), the two sides who came up with the Clarets last season.

Clarets suffering in the top-flight

Burnley’s eighth home league defeat of the season – in just nine matches – will have been all the more painful for being inflicted by an Everton side managed by former Clarets boss Sean Dyche.

Saturday’s 2-0 loss leaves Burnley at 2/7 in the Premier League relegation odds and, having lost 13 of their 17 matches this season, they are 19th, six points adrift of safety.

Sheffield United are the 1/12 favourites for relegation after a 2-0 defeat by Chelsea at the weekend. The Blades are bottom, below Burnley on goal difference.

Luton Town complete the bottom three in 18th and are 2/9 to be relegated. Their match away to Bournemouth was abandoned at the weekend and means they have a game in hand on Nottingham Forest, the team immediately above them.

Forest have struggled of late, and lost again on Friday night, this time to Tottenham Hotspur. That match proved to be Steve Cooper’s last as manager at the City Ground and they are 5/2 to go down.

Crystal Palace are 10/1 and Everton are 12/1, although both teams had great results at the weekend after the Eagles drew at Manchester City.
