Personal Statement

I have always known I wanted to go to college.  I am an excellent student and love to learn and challenge myself to be the best in everything I do.  I am in honors classes my freshman year and was accepted into a specialized Health Sciences Academy at my high school.  It is highly challenging and I love it!  I take bio med labs daily and all of my classes are orientated towards one of my  passions, the medical field.

My other passion is softball.  I consider myself a student of the game and love to learn everything I can about this sport  I made the varsity team as a freshman and have earned my spot as a starting pitcher on the team (even with college committed pitchers in our roster).  Our high school program is a highly competitive Division I program who has won CIF in the recent past and I am blessed to play with amazing teammates, some who are junior All Americans, college committed athletes!

I love to learn the strategies of the game and love learning about pitching strategies.  To me it is like a science(my favorite subject).  I like to try different grips and spins to make my pitches more effective.  My pitching coach, Don Sarno, was the Olympics coach in women's softball and I LOVE how he helps me make a ball spin and rise.  He has taught me to master the curve rise/rise and running fastballs and why these pitches are so important in college.  He has also helped me with my change up pitch, which is working really well.  I also work with Kindal Kincaid for pitching.  I have worked with her since I was nine and she helps me with the mental game and mechanics.  She is also amazing and I am lucky to have these coaches in my life.   My batting coach is Christy Ring from Oklahoma University.  She has taught me everything I know about my swing and because of her I am a powerful, left handed batter who can take a pitch over the fence!  Learning from them has been a great experience.  I have always been told I am a good teammate, I work hard and am a positive person.  I love to compete and be the best at everything I do and will work harder than anyone to reach my goals. I also have a great sense of humor and love to laugh.  This helps me keep a positive relationship with my friends and coaches.  I know I will play  college somewhere, I just don't know which school it will be?  I am excited for my future.
