Oh my! My dad taped this movie and my sisters and I watched it over and over. And sobbed. Serious, full-body sobs. To this day, I can’t think of it without tearing up. As I recall, I had trouble understanding why Alvie and Bootsy were considered bad guys…

I was so excited a few years ago when the show Pushing Daisies did a sort of tribute to it, with Olive’s backstory including a Savannah-like “kidnapping” and her staying in touch with her kidnappers. I found that idea very satisfying.

Less satisfying is that adorable Bridgette Anderson died at 21.
