Christopher Donte’ Carrington of Chesapeake, Va. formally of Petersburg, Va was born on October 9, 2001. After battling a lifelong illness he departed this life on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Children’s Hospital of King’s Daughters. He was definitely a miracle child. When Christopher was 1 yrs. old he became ill and the doctors stated that he would not make it to see his 3rd birthday, but he defied the odds, and with the help of God, he lived to see his 21st birthday. Christopher was educated in the Petersburg Public School System, and graduated from Hickory High School in Chesapeake, Va. when he relocated his senior year of high school. Christopher is preceded in death by his grandmother, Bessie Mae Thomas, grandfathers, Wilson Jenkins, Joe Cooke, and Richard Brown, uncles, Michael Carrington, David and Herman Thomas Jr, aunts, Barbara Ann Thomas, Francine Lanier, and Kimberly Cooke and as of May 4, 2023, his grandmother and namesake, Christine Cooke. Christopher leaves to cherish his memory his devoted mother and caregiver, LaCheryl Carrington (Daniel Lamb) of Chesapeake, Va. Father, Woodrow “PJ” Carrington of Richmond, Va, sister, Katima Thomas-Collins (Ray) of Colonial Heights, Va, Precious Carrington of Texas, nieces, Sa’Niyah, Ariyah, and Zariyah Collins of Colonial Heights, Va., aunts, Audrey Tarboro, Bonita McCray, Anita Thomas, Gloria Sauls-Thomas, and Lavern Thomas-Painter of Norfolk, Va., Annette Willis(Tyrone) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Benita Thomas of Houston, Texas, Danielle Carrington of Petersburg, Va and RichandaMcNair (Mustafa) of Emporia, Va, uncles, Emmanuel “Alvin” Thomas, Sr. (Elise) and Zachary Ash (DeLois) both of Norfolk, Va., Darryl Thomas of Houston, Texas, and Timothy Faust of Petersburg, Va. A host of cousins, one that was very devoted, Shenika Beale (Tellys) of Portsmouth, Va, great-uncles, great-aunts, and great-cousins. Special Thank you to his long time doctor, Bobby Duhart, and nurses that cared for him since the beginning of his illness in Petersburg, Va until he relocated, Ethel Money, Francine Reed, and Katrina Bolling. Also, thank you to all of his nurses that cared for him in Chesapeake, Va, the nurses and doctors at MCV Hospital, Children’s Hospital of King’s Daughters, numerous home health companies, and other family, friends, and teachers.
