"We were very fortunate. He is very fortunate that it wasn't as bad as it looked, thank goodness," said head coach Ron Rivera, per Newton.
Thompson's Athleticism Key for Panthers
Thompson’s versatility and overall athletic ability caught Carolina’s eye during the draft. He played outside and inside linebacker in college, as well as some safety and even running back. His burst and quickness to the ball in pursuit earned him early playing time during his rookie campaign.
His injury was just the latest setback for the Panthers at linebacker. Luke Kuechly missed time earlier this season with a concussion, and A.J. Klein—who filled in for Kuechly during that span—did not play in the Seattle game with his own concussion concerns.
