sMothered is back this year with its fifth season. While many mother-and-child duos are returning for season 6, there are also some newcomers to the show including Sky and her daughter, Skylar.
The sMothered cast are well-known for being closer than close. From bathing together to getting “vajacials” as a duo, the moms and their kids simply can’t be separated. Two of the TLC show’s newest cast members are so close they practically share the same name.

Meet sMothered star Skylar
sMothered season 5 star Skylar is 19 years old.
She hails from Atlanta, Georgia, and has an Instagram page with 202k followers @iamskylarmarie.
When Skylar was first born her mom says she held her and said: “This is me, all over again.”
Skylar is described by her mother as being “talented.” And she’s been enrolled in dance and singing lessons from a young age.

Sky, 45, also hails from Atlanta.
The two women share the same name and the same “talents,” says Sky.
Sky claims to be her daughter’s “brain,” and is essentially her momager.
The TLC star always wanted to be the next Beyoncé, and now she’s keen on her daughter following in her footsteps.
Despite not reaching the fame she wanted in her youth, Sky still has a job she’s passionate about.
She’s a choreographer, dancer, and singer. With over 14k followers, Sky can be found on Instagram at @skyblu101.

Fans say Sky steals birthday spotlight
It’s safe to say that Sky and Skylar aren’t shying away from the camera, but fans think that the momager took things too far during sMothered season 5.
During episode 3, the ladies celebrate Skylar’s birthday, but viewers are convinced that her mom wanted to make it all about her.
One person wrote on X (Twitter): “…She wants the spotlight so bad. Poor Sky she is so embarrassed.”
Another said: “Weird that Sky wants the spotlight all for herself…”
Others compliment the TLC star on her ageless looks and said she looks the same age as her daughters.
Sky and Skylar also have some fans questioning if they’re on the show “for the right reasons,” as they give “influencer vibes.” It’s not the first time viewers have wondered if sMothered is as “real” as it seems.
One fan took to a Reddit thread to write: “On the topic of them, it’s soooo obvious they’re just on the show to try to get publicity for Skylar’s music… so I found it just out of curiosity and well…”
However, speaking to Cameshia Reviews this January, the mom and daughter-duo said that their journey to reality TV fame was organic. Sky explained that they rose to fame on TikTok before sMothered.
