Personal Statement

I was first introduced to competitive running when I was 9 years old. I played soccer for most of my life, so running track was an addition to help me on the field. Throughout my soccer career I accomplished many things, like training with a professional team in England. As a player my speed was commented on very often, especially while in Europe. This opened my eyes to what I could really accomplish in the sport of track. Around 2017 is when track started to become my main focus. I take pride in my leadership and drive that I bring to my track team. My strong mindset in track and school is what has gotten me to winning 8 City Titles and my academic awards. Academically, I strive to maintain my 5.0/4.0 GPA in the years to come. It is very important to me to find a college that will provide a strong education, as well as an athletic opportunity.

As a runner, overcoming the pain and struggles at practice is a daily obstacle.  My success has come greatly from my competitiveness and being mentally strong. My coach praises my positivity and uplifting attitude I have towards my teammates. The confidence I uniquely possess in myself and my training allows me to race to my full potential. As a young student-athlete, with my skills, drive, and character, I believe I can make an immediate impact on your program.
