The Voice’s winner prize money is waiting for one of five finalists to take it home. Although it’s a big sum, it’s not half of what another singing competition offers its winner. The American Idol winner takes home enough cash to buy an entire house, but The Voice winners don’t quite have that advantage.
As the final of the NBC singing contest looms, everyone’s imagining what they would do with that massive cash prize. Alongside the exposure The Voice singers get just for appearing on our screens, there’s the ultimate winner’s prize waiting for them if they win…
The Voice prize money
The Voice winner’s prize is $100K and a record deal with Universal Music Group, but no guarantee of a ride up the charts. And of course they’ll get the ultimate TV exposure – and bragging rights!
Many contestants have gone on to have huge success as musicians since winning. Morgan Wallen is now one of the biggest names in country music today and was a contestant in season 6.
Throughout their time on the show, they form relationships with their coaches. For instance, former coach Blake Shelton would invite his winning singers to open for him on tour!
American Idol offers more than double in life-changing cash prize
In comparison The American Idol 2023 prize was $250K alongside a recording contract. In 2019, the average cost of a home for buyers in the US was around $244,000, while West Virginia is the most affordable state to buy a house.
With a Zillow Home Value Index of $146,578, this means that the American Idol winner walked home with enough to put a new roof over their head. The winner doesn’t get the entire $250,000 at once, though.
Alongside a recording contract with Hollywood Records/19 Recordings, they reportedly get $125K when they sign the contract and another $125K after completing an album in four months, Cheatsheet writes.
Additionally, the winner reportedly receives $1,000 weekly while they record the album, and then $1,000 for every master recording provided. The winner receives a budget of up to $300K to complete the album.
That’s it. Huntley is gonna win this whole thing… but Lila may give him a run for his money.
It’s gotta come down to them. They’re both so talented! @NBCTheVoice #TheVoice
