In a shocking development, two drill sergeants from Alabama have been found dead within eight days at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. The U.S. Army is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding these untimely deaths.
A Series of Unfortunate Events
Staff Sgt. Zachary L. Melton, 30, of Huntsville, was found unresponsive in his vehicle on Saturday, December 16, 2023. Just eight days prior, Staff Sgt. Allen M. Burtram, 34, of Cleveland, was found deceased after he failed to report for work.
Ongoing Investigations
The cause of death for both sergeants remains undisclosed as investigations are ongoing. This series of tragic events has left the Fort Jackson community and the entire U.S. Army in a state of shock and mourning.
