Personal Statement

I Tyler Ramirez am tenacious, determined, motivated, jubilant and lead by example. I have been participating in the sport I love for nine years now, with no signs of stopping anytime soon. I was the first freshman to make to state in any sport much less wrestling in my schools history (established in 1845). I am now a three-time state qualifier with every intention of making the podium next year. I will be perusing a degree in Architecture with a business minor, while wrestling for your school. I have tried multiple sports (football, baseball, karate and jiu jitsu) with my heart landing in the fine art of grappling. As a member of your team I promise to lead from the front, but also to know when to follow. I will be a positive role model not only on the mat, but off it as well. I like to volunteer my time in the "off" season to give back to my community. I feel athletes are the face of their sport and in an effort to grow our beloved sport we need to be a positive representative of it. My summers are spent volunteering at my local hospital in effort to do just that. I have learned many life lessons from our sport, most of which is never giving up. That is my promise to you. I will never give up! I will never back down from a challenge whether issued by you, the opponent whose toe is stepping on that line, or that class I’m fighting for an A in. I will push myself in all aspects of my life, and at the days end, I will make you proud! Thank you for your time.
