What Happened To Mike Thalassitis? Suicide Linked With The Death Of The Love Island Star

Mike Thalassitis rose to prominence after appearing on the 2017 series of The Love Island, but his fame was short-lived due to his sudden death. 

Mike Thalassitis was a British footballer and Reality TV star. He was a former contestant on the third series of ITV2's dating show, The Love Island. He also appeared on the Celebs Go Dating in the year 2018.

Thalassitis last played football for the Margate Football Club. He had started his professional career with Stevenage in May 2011. 

In March 2019, the footballer was found dead at the age of 26 years at a park in North London. 

Love Island star Mike Thalassitis Died Two Years Ago

Mike Thalassitis was discovered dead in a park in Edmonton, North London. The place where he jogged, was near his home in Essex. 

His death had sparked huge attention that also prompted Love Island producers to increase their care for the stars. Following this, the show provided therapy and training sessions to its contestants. The care also provided contestants with social media and financial management.

A year ago, another Love Island star, Sophie Gradon, had also taken her own life having consumed both substances. The former Miss Britain had committed suicide at her home in Medburn in 2019. Thalassitis' death was very much similar to that of Gradon, as revealed by the police.

What Happened To Mike Thalassitis? Suicide Linked To His Death

Mike Thalassitis had died after committing suicide. He died by hanging in the North London park. 

Further investigation into the case revealed that Thalassitis had ended his life after consuming drugs. The Coroner had ruled that cocaine, alcohol, and paracetamol were found in his body. 

Mental health issues are not always visible.

The investigation team had revealed that the mixture of substances was known to make someone 16 times more likely to kill themselves.

His death had arrived two months after his best friend Danny Cutts passed away, on Christmas Eve. Likewise, two days earlier his grandmother had also died. Two persons were reportedly very close and dear to the footballer. 

Mike Thalassitis Left Notes Before Killing Himself

Love Island star Mike Thalassitis had left a notebook with messages to his family at the scene of his death. The words on his notebook showed his intention to end his life, as revealed by his parents. 

The back of his diary had a note that addressed his family members. The investigation revealed that he was going through dark times.
