It's been just over one year since Drew McIntyre's future with WWE was called into question, with rumors and reports running rampant regarding his contract status.

An exclusive from Alex McCarthy of MailOnline in late February revealed that the former WWE champion had not re-signed with the company as of then, and there's been no official update since that his standing with the company has changed.

However, the way WrestleMania 40 went down for him all but confirmed that he's re-signing with WWE, even if he hasn't put pen to paper yet.

It's unlikely he would have beaten Seth Rollins decisively for the World Heavyweight Championship if higher-ups weren't working under the impression he's staying. Although his reign quickly came to an end at the hands of Damian Priest, his moment in front of the fans was well-deserved and long overdue.

CM Punk cost him the title that night by attacking him at ringside and again caused him to lose on the next night's Raw. It would be nonsensical for that match not to happen eventually, regardless of when The Second City Saint is cleared to compete again.

Furthermore, the Clash at the Castle show emanating from his native Scotland on June 15 feels tailor-made for a McIntyre main event. There's bound to be clarity on the situation soon, but his heel run has been too spectacular to not continue.
