Jemmy's father, Geronimo, was a Dominican former professional baseball second baseman as a Major League Baseball (MLB) player.

The senior Pena was welcomed by his parents on March 29, 1967, in Distrito National, Dominican Republic.

The second baseman was named Geronimo Pena Martinez by his parents. November 19, 2021, was the day when Jeremy had a deal with the Astros and added him to their 40-man roster.
