Tame Impala’s “Why Won’t They Talk to Me?” is featured on an album called Lonerism.  And accordingly, it centers on the singer’s feeling of social isolation. The primary sentiment being relayed is one of him questioning why he doesn’t have friends. But simultaneously, he criticizes people close in his vicinity for being self-centered. So what we have here is basically a case of someone blaming his apparent awkwardness on the people who he feels have deemed him awkward. But more to the point is the singer not being able to comprehend why he is outcast in the first place. And all things considered, he is experiencing a certain amount of depression as a result.

This track dates back to Tame Impala’s second album, 2012’s Lonerism. It came out as part of that project on 5 October of that year via Modular Recordings.
